Well, these are the msnp14 enabled pidgin packages again, with the updated custom smiley patch.

上週在更新系統時，發現一直在用的 metalog 早已被列入 obsolete 之列，查了一下，發現這個網頁以及討論，所以就換上 rsyslog 了。
使用上的感覺呢… 沒什麼感覺… XD 雖然看起來有不少強大的功能，但是像我這種設定檔都沒改的用法，直接安裝替換就搞定了。

Pidgin is updated to 2.4.1-1+b1 in Debian Sid for the fixed libnss3-1 dep, these are the “msnp14 enabled and custom smiley patch applied” packages.

對常常開數個 gnome-terminal 比對或 coding 但螢幕不夠大的我來說，有支援 composite 的環境實在是福音，gnome-terminal 的背景可以真正的透明，就不用為了看幾個被遮到的字元而來來回回地切換。
因此，有好一陣子我使用 compiz fusion。不過最近又喜歡簡單點，所以換回 metacity，但是偏偏它不支援 composite，實在是兩難啊…
GNOME 2.22 最近開始陸續進入 Debian Sid 中，今天早上更新時發現 metacity 2.22.0 也進來了，聽說這個版本是支援 composite 的，因此迫不及待地更新了。
重啟 metacity 後，咦? 為什麼還是沒有 composite 呢? 不死心，上 Google 拜一拜看看，果然，在這裡找到了資訊。
只要開啟組態編輯器或是直接使用 gconftool，將 /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager 設為 true，然後再重啟 metacity 就搞定囉!

最近發生的事，經過可以參考 lkml 上的 Performance versus FreeBSD 7.0 以及 lwn 上的討論。

Here’re another pidgin 2.3.1-2 packages with msnp14 enabled, and patched with pidgin-mtn_msn-sync.patch and “Send Custom Emoticons in MSN” patches.

I have used it for two days. It works for me, except that my MSN nick change does not retained if I restart pidgin.

再次以 Debian Sid 中的 pidgin 2.3.1-2 為基礎編了一版，這次加上了 pidgin-mtn_msn-sync.patch 和 傳送 MSN 自訂表情圖示。

我自己試了兩天左右，msn 暱稱若有修改，在重啟 pidgin 後又會變回未修改前的。其他的部份對我來說用起來都正常。
